With this session (part two in our urban-rural divide series), we aim to illuminate the lifestyle, challenges and triumphs of farmers in our area to grow deeper awareness and connection between the Impact Hub community and the professionals that feed our cities.Lisa Deacon, a long time Hubber, will be moderating the discussion.Marie-Lou Cameron, along with her husband and three children operate a dairy farm in Embrun. A self-identified 'country girl,' she has raised and cared for animals since childhood. Marie-Lou is also a specialized educator and loves to use her accompanying hobby farm for learning opportunities with children.Meghann Baker and her family (Nic and their six children) began their small-scale farming journey outside of Russell five years ago. The process has been full of learning, wonder and discovery, as well as a sense that this is the life for them. Permaculture ethics of “earth care, people care, fair share” resonate deeply and inform their day to day practice.
