City of Ottawa's First Women and Gender Equity Strategy BBL

More than ever before, policies and plans should integrate a woman and gender lens. COVID-19’s disproportionate effect on women and gender diverse persons can have a devastating impact on the well-being of cities.The meeting will highlight the main pillars of the City of Ottawa's 5-year strategy and focus on levels of systemic change needed to advance women and gender equity and challenges.Sawsan Al-Refaei is a Women and Gender policy and advocacy activist and researcher. She currently works in the City of Ottawa leading its first Women and Gender Equity Strategy. She has a master’s degree in health policy, planning and financing, and a postgraduate degree in population studies. She is an ex-officio member board member of City for All Women Initiatives (CAWI) since April 2020.
